Brake repairs in Woking

Pads, discs, calipers, pipes and brake fluid. If your brakes squeal, grind, pull or feel spongy, bring it in and we’ll check them properly.

Your brakes are the most important safety system on your car. If they squeal, grind, pull to one side or feel spongy, get them checked as soon as you can. We inspect the pads, discs, calipers, brake pipes and brake fluid, tell you exactly what needs doing and quote before we start.

Brake wear depends on how and where you drive, so there is no fixed mileage. Having your brakes checked at every MOT and service helps catch wear early, before it damages other parts.

Signs your brakes need attention

  • Squealing or squeaking when you brake
  • A grinding noise, which can mean the pads are worn down to the metal
  • The car pulling to one side when braking
  • A soft, spongy or sinking brake pedal
  • Vibration through the pedal or steering wheel when braking
  • The brake warning light on the dashboard

What we do

  • Brake pads and discs replaced
  • Calipers, brake pipes and hoses checked and replaced where needed
  • Brake fluid changed
  • Handbrake checked and adjusted
  • A clear explanation of what is worn and what can wait, with a quote before we start

Brake questions

How do I know if my brake pads need replacing?+

Common signs are squealing, grinding, a longer stopping distance, a brake warning light, or pads that look thin when you view them through the wheel. If in doubt, bring it in and we'll measure them.

How often should brake fluid be changed?+

Many manufacturers recommend changing it about every two years, because brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and that reduces its performance. Check your handbook or ask us.

Do pads and discs always need replacing together?+

No. It depends on the condition of the discs. We measure and inspect them, and only recommend new discs when they are worn, damaged or below the minimum thickness.
