Terms of Business
These Terms of Business apply to all bookings and services provided by SURREY AUTOTECH LTD (“we”, “us”, “our”). By making a booking with us, you (“the customer”) agree to these terms.
SURREY AUTOTECH LTD is registered in England and Wales, company number 11916976. Registered office and garage: Unit 5, 10b Manor Way, Woking, Surrey, GU22 9JX.
1. Bookings and payment
- You can book online, by phone or in person. Your booking is confirmed once you receive confirmation from us.
- We do not take payment online. Payment is made at the garage when you collect your vehicle.
- We accept credit and debit cards and cash.
- All prices quoted include VAT where applicable and are valid at the time of booking.
2. Cancelling or changing a booking
We reserve time for every booking, so please let us know as early as you can if you need to cancel or change your appointment.
- Notice: please give us at least 24 hours’ notice before your appointment time, so we can offer the slot to another customer.
- Weekends excluded: the 24-hour notice period does not include Saturday or Sunday. For example, to cancel a Monday 9:00am appointment, please tell us by the previous Friday at 9:00am.
- No-shows: if your vehicle does not arrive and you have not told us, we may not be able to hold future bookings for you.
3. The MOT test
- MOT tests are carried out in line with current DVSA rules and standards.
- MOT price: £45 for cars and light vans (Class 4), whether you book online, by phone or in person.
- The fee is for carrying out the MOT test and issuing the result, so it is payable whether your vehicle passes or fails.
- If your vehicle fails and you leave it with us for repair, the partial retest is free if it is carried out within 10 working days.
4. Servicing and repairs
- Any additional work recommended after an MOT or service will be quoted separately.
- We will always ask for your permission before carrying out any work beyond what you originally booked.
5. Parts you supply yourself
We recommend using parts we source, because we know where they come from and they carry a warranty. If you prefer to supply your own parts, the following applies.
- Your parts: we do not give any warranty or guarantee on parts you supply. If a part is faulty, counterfeit or fails early, please take this up with the seller or manufacturer.
- Our work: we will still fit your parts with reasonable care and skill. If a problem is caused by our workmanship, we will put it right free of charge.
- If your part fails: if a part you supplied fails and this is not caused by our workmanship, we will charge our standard labour rates to diagnose, remove and replace it.
- Wrong or damaged parts: please make sure parts are correct for your vehicle. If a part turns out to be wrong, damaged or incomplete once work has started, we will contact you. You can supply the correct part, ask us to source one, or ask us to reassemble your vehicle, with labour charged for work done.
- Storage charge: if your vehicle has to wait in a service bay for more than 2 working days because of a part you supplied, a storage fee will apply for each extra working day. We will tell you the amount before this charge starts.
- Our right to refuse: we may refuse to fit any part we believe is counterfeit, unsafe, damaged or unsuitable for your vehicle. You will still need to pay for any work you agreed to that we have already done, such as diagnosis or dismantling.
- Safety: supplying your own parts does not lower our safety standards. If a part cannot be fitted after we have started work, we will refit your original parts where it is safe to do so. If that is not possible, then at your request we will keep your vehicle at the garage until the correct part arrives, or help you arrange recovery. If we find your vehicle is not roadworthy, we will tell you in writing and advise you not to drive it.
6. Our responsibility to you
- We will carry out all work with reasonable care and skill.
- We are not responsible for faults or damage that existed before your vehicle came to us, or for loss or damage that was not caused by our negligence or breach of these terms.
- Please remove personal belongings from your vehicle before leaving it with us.
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
7. Your legal rights
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
8. Your information
We use your personal information (such as your name, contact details and vehicle details) to manage your booking and provide our services, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us straight away by phone or email so we can try to put things right.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your booking are the ones in force on the date you make your booking.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
